Sobre Biogents

Martin Geier estudió biología en Ratisbona y en su tesis de maestría y tesis doctoral investigó el sentido del olfato de los mosquitos. Trabajó de post-doc en el Departamento de Entomología de la Universidad de California en Riverside, donde se concentró en la orientación de los insectos según los olores. Después de regresar a Alemania, se convirtió en director del grupo de trabajo de mosquitos en el Instituto de Zoología en Ratisbona. Una serie de investigaciones de campo de los mosquitos lo llevó a Brasil. Es miembro de la American Mosquito Control Association, de la European Mosquito Control Association y el instituto de la Biodiversidad. Dr. Geier habla alemán e inglés.

Andreas Rose estudió biología en Ratisbona y en la Universidad de Colorado en Boulder. En su tesis de maestría y su tesis doctoral, se centró en el comportamiento de detección de huéspedes del insecto del Chagas, Triatoma infestans. Después de su trabajo como post-doc en el Mosquito Lab de Ratisbona, trabajó para un productor de aceites esenciales y extractos de plantas en Francia. Allí, fue el responsable de la investigación y el desarrollo y del control de producción y calidad. Es miembro  de la directiva de la European Mosquito Control Association, miembro de la Pan-African Mosquito Control Association, de la Society of Vector Ecology, de la European Network for Arthropod Vector Surveillance for Human Public Health, y de la German Association for General and Applied Entomology. Hugo Plan is an experienced senior manager and was the general director of the company SPG (Société De Production Grainières), our French retail distributor, for many years. He played a leading role in establishing the Biogents brand on the French market and was an important support during the launch of our products into the European retail market by the SBM group. He is also the founder and president of CMC (Consulting Mosquitoes Control), a company that offers comprehensive solutions for an effective and sustainable mosquito control for the French professional market. In 2023, Hugo joined the management board of Biogents to support the future growth of the business. He speaks French, English, and some German.

John Anderson is a seasoned executive with over two decades of experience in progressively growing businesses. John’s expertise in sales management is complemented by an MBA from Western Governors University and a Bachelor’s degree in Sales Management. Throughout his career, he has managed sales environments ranging from B2B, direct-to-consumer, to retailer distribution sales channels, collaborating with major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Target. John leads Biogents’ expansion in the dynamic US market. He is fluent in English and has a basic proficiency in German.

Ulla Gordon already worked at Regensburg University´s mosquito group as a student and joined the company in 2002. Her PhD thesis investigated so called “push-pull” control strategies for the yellow-fever mosquito Aedes aegypti, in particular the combination of BG-Sentinel traps with plant-derived spatial repellents. Between 2005 and 2018, Dr. Gordon was the head of our contract research and development branch.

Since 2018, she has taken on a new and exciting challenge as Head of Human Resources. Building strong relationships and understanding individual strengths are particularly important to her in fostering a collaborative working environment. However, she has not turned her back on science; as a member of Biogents’ internal Scientific Advisory Board, she continues to advise the scientific sector and analyze current research projects. Dr. Gordon is a member of the American and European Mosquito Control Associations. She speaks German, English and Portuguese.

Christina Gerl completed her training as an industrial clerk in 2022 and was subsequently employed in the human resources department of the company where she had trained. There, she gained her first hands-on experience in HR before moving on to another company, where she worked as a human resources manager and deepened her expertise across various areas of HR management. 

Mrs. Gerl joined our HR team in October 2025 and supports us as a personnel administrator. Her responsibilities include recruitment, employee support, and preparatory payroll processing.

She is fluent in German and English. 

En Abril de 2017 Petra Schultheiss se integra en el equipo de Biogents después de varios años trabajando para una ONG europea en el campo de las áreas protegidas, donde estaba a cargo del desarrollo de proyectos y las relaciones de membresía. Ahora apoya al equipo de ventas de Biogents como Gerente de Cuentas Claves, asegurándose de que nuestros distribuidores internacionales obtengan los productos y la información que necesitan. Por formación como geógrafa y científica cultural, naturalmente tiene una visión general de muchos temas. Esto en combinación por su pasión de viajar es muy útil cuando se trata de desarrollar nuevos mercados alrededor del mundo. La Sra. Schultheiss habla alemán, inglés, español y francés y entiende portugués.

Miguel graduated in Tourism from the School of Education at the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (PT) and completed his studies with a Master’s degree in International Business from the School of Economics, Management, and Political Science at the University of Minho (PT).

His ambition to pursue an international professional career led him to nal von minden GmbH, a specialist in in-vitro diagnostics and toxicology, where he worked for 12 years. Most recently, he served as their Sales & Product Manager in the Export team, managing portfolios across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and North America. He joined our Sales team in November 2024 and is representing Biogents AG as Key Account Manager for Europe & Africa.

Miguel’s mother tongue is Portuguese, but he also speaks English and German, and has basic knowledge of Spanish and French.

Potjana (Pook) Vianden has been working closely with Biogents as a distributor in Thailand since 2016. She has extensive expertise in providing biological mosquito control service solutions with BG-traps for hotels, schools, and high-end residences, and has installed over 600 serviced BG-traps in Bangkok and suburbs. In 2023, Pook joined the Biogents team as our Key Account Manager for the Asia-Pacific region. She is a valuable addition to our sales team and will play a pivotal role in strengthening our presence in the Asia-Pacific market and nurturing our relationships with key clients. Pook speaks Thai, German, English and understands Mandarin.

Léonie Aslanidis completed two trainings in the fields of media and marketing and then worked in trade & retail marketing in the fashion industry for several years. Before joining Biogents in the beginning of 2021, Léonie worked for a large publishing house in sales and as an online shop manager. At Biogents, she manages all D2C divisions of the business, which includes the development of D2C strategies and coordination of D2C campaigns in cooperation with our marketing department and external agencies. Ms. Aslanidis speaks German and English.

Hanna Rose studied German and English linguistics at the University of Regensburg. Since 2011, she takes care of the Biogents Webshops for professionals, researchers and retail clients, in both Europe and the US. Ms. Rose organizes the dispatch of the ordered products and is the point of contact for any questions related with the online orders. She speaks German and English.

Yvonne Weißflach finished an apprenticeship as an office clerk in real estate and housing business in Munich in 2001. After completion she worked in the same company in Regensburg for 15 years where she was responsible for several departments such as financial and tax department, administrative area, etc. Starting in January 2017 she now supports not only the Biogents management board but also the entire Biogents team. In 2019, she extended her professional activities and joined Biogents´ Webshops to take care of customer requests. Ms. Weißflach speaks German and English.

Maria Nikolayczik studied International Relations and Management at the OTH Regensburg. As part of her studies, she spent one year in Brazil and completed several internships in the corporate environment. Before joining Biogents in 2020, she worked in sales at a tech start-up. Maria Nikolayczik took over as Head of Order Management in November 2023. The team focuses on order processing for our global B2B customers and exporting our products. In close cooperation with our Sales and Operations team, Order Management is driving on continuously improving the customer service level and optimizing processes. Mrs Nikolayczik speaks German, English and Brazilian Portuguese

Brigida Napolitano joined our Order Management team in March 2020. She graduated in Foreign languages and International Relations in Italy. Since she moved to Regensburg, she has been working in Nature conservation for the EUROPARC Federation in the area of membership and office management. At Biogents, she works as first point of contact for the customers, managing customer orders and providing customer service and assistance with payments, billing, technical support and other general inquiries. Ms Napolitano speaks Italian (native speaker), French, English and German.

Lena Hauser is a trained industrial clerk and certified bachelor professional in management for industry and master professional of business management. After her training, she worked in internal sales and customer service in Regensburg before joining our team in the fall of 2022. Ms. Hauser supports our customers with all inquiries and is the contact person for orders, payments and technical support. She speaks German and English.

Simone Nkolo studied International Trade at the University of Metz in France and Intercultural Communication at the OTH Regensburg.

Her Master’s thesis focused on the consideration of communication and intercultural differences in business negotiations for internationally active companies. After completing her studies, Simone Nkolo gained experience while working in various companies in the region, including in sales or after-sales as a customer advisor specifically for the French market and French-speaking countries. Simone speaks French, German and English.

Amelie Dorloff’s career path is marked by a rich variety of experiences across the fashion, music, semiconductor and logistics industries.

After completing her degree in Fashion and Textile Management in Hamburg, she gained valuable experience at renowned companies such as Burberry and ams OSRAM.
Her core competencies lie in sales, customer service, and office and product data management. Currently, Amelie is expanding her expertise through a Master’s program in Digital Business Management & Engineering at Hochschule Fresenius, which she is completing alongside her professional activities.

She is fluent in German and English and has basic knowledge of French, Spanish, and Italian.

Jennifer McCaw estudió zoología en la Universidad de California en Santa Bárbara y recibió su Maestría en Ciencias en la Universidad de Ratisbona. En su tesis de maestría, optimizó formulaciones de mezclas de olores atractivos para los mosquitos de la malaria para los dispositivos de contaminación del mosquito del MCD project. Es jefa de gestión de productos. La Srta. McCaw habla inglés y alemán.

Carolin Degener studied Biology in Regensburg and obtained her PhD in Parasitology from the University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She had her first contact with Biogents as an undergraduate student working as a volunteer in repellent efficacy studies. She decided to dedicate her research to mosquitoes and investigated yellow fever mosquito mass trapping in her Master’s and PhD theses. After a post-doc at Fiocruz in Rio de Janeiro where Carolin worked in a project that developed a real-time dengue alert system for Brazilian municipalities, she returned to Biogents in 2016. She has been involved in several work areas, including development, marketing, data analysis, and scientific writing. In 2023, Carolin joined our new product management team as scientific advisor and to provide technical support for our customers. Carolin speaks German, is fluent in English and Portuguese, and understands French.

Before joining Biogents, Ms. Gückel gathered extensive experience in the textile industry. She worked for a Regensburg-based manufacturer of customized sportswear for 12 years, the last six of which as Product Manager. Ms. Gückel has been supporting our product management team since March 2024 in the development and introduction of new products and in the management of our product portfolio. She speaks Romanian, German, English and French.

Simon von Massow studied psychology at Saarland University and wrote his master’s thesis in cognitive science on processes of attention control between human sensory modalities. During his master’s studies, he worked as a research assistant at an AI institute, where he researched human-machine issues in the automotive context. He then worked for several years as a Human Factors Researcher & Consultant in the automotive industry and also as a User Experience Designer at Biogents, where he drove the user-centred development of our digital applications.

After almost 3 years as Product Manager and UX Specialist at a SaaS startup in the payment industry, Mr von Massow rejoined Biogents and we are pleased that Mr von Massow supports the product management team as Human Experience Manager in the new and further development of our innovative products and services.

Mr von Massow is a member of the German UPA Association and speaks German, English and French.

Antoine Cohen has been working with Biogents in the French PCO market since 2010. He has extensive expertise in the employment of Biogents traps in the field and we were pleased to add him to our Product development team in 2023. As our new technical manager for the French market, Antoine helps our distributors, professionals and private households to get the best out of their Biogents products. Antoine speaks French and English.

After his commercial training, Johannes Falke completed a Bachelor in logistics. After 9 years in the CEP industry, most recently as Operations Manager, he accepted a position in the automotive sector of a global electronics group where he gained 6 years of experience in logistics, production planning and control as well as customer support. Since March 2021 he is our new Operations Manager and responsible for the ongoing analysis and optimization of our internal & external production processes, logistics, supplier management as well as the further development of the ERP system. Mr. Falke speaks German and English.

After his apprenticeship as an office communication specialist at the main customs office in Regensburg, Christoph Ehrl joined the technology company Thermo Fisher Scientific GENEART GmbH, where he was responsible for the import & export business, especially the shipment of synthetic DNA. Subsequently, he worked for another three years at a logistics service provider for the automotive industry. Since November 2020 he supports the Biogents team in the area of import, customs formalities and warehouse logistics. He speaks German and English.

Michael Gasser is a trained businessman for office management and a certified business administrator. Before joining our operations team in the summer of 2022, he worked as an operational purchaser in different companies in Regensburg. Mr. Gasser is responsible for the purchase and procurement of goods and coordinates the flow of goods between national and international suppliers, our production, warehouse and international distributors. Mr. Gasser speaks German and English.

Raluca Gärtner studied business economics at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and completed her master’s degree at the University of Regensburg. After 4-year experience in the business process outsourcing department of an audit company and 12-year experience in finance controlling and accounting in the service industry, Raluca joint our team as head of finance & controlling. Since November 2023 she is responsible for the financial statements and reporting. Raluca speaks Romanian, German, English and French.

Ana Maria Safta studied food chemistry at the University Lucian Blaga in Sibiu, Romania, before completing further training as a financial accountant. Most recently, Ms. Safta worked for a company in Bucharest in accounts payable. She has been supporting our finance department since the fall of 2022 and primarily handles accounts receivable and accounts payable as well as auditing, account assignment and entering of current business transactions. Ms. Safta speaks Romanian, German and English.

Lena Halbritter is a trained tax clerk. She has gained significant experience in accounting while working for different companies since she finished her training 10 years ago. In spring 2023 she completed the team of our finance department and supports us in accounts payable and accounts receivable as well as in booking of all current business cases. Ms. Halbritter speaks German and English.

Silke Göttler estudió biología en la Universidad de Regensburg, Alemania. En su tesis de maestría y tesis doctoral se concentró en el endemismo críptico en varias especies de cangrejos utilizando genética poblacional y técnicas morfométricas. Las cuestiones filogenéticas, filogeográficas y ecológicas formaron parte de sus estudios. En el 2012 se incorporó al equipo de Biogents. Su enfoque es la relación con los clientes y el desarrollo de proyectos de protección de mosquitos en jardines, restaurantes, hospitales y sitios de acampada. La Dra. Göttler habla alemán e inglés.

Niko Zankl is a trained biotechnical assistant (BTA) and has a Master´s degree in Biology from the University of Regensburg. He wrote his thesis on «intraspecific variability and phylogeography in stone crabs». Since April 2022, Mr Zankl is supporting the monitoring activities at Biogents and is responsible for various trap studies for the monitoring of invasive mosquitoes in Southern Germany. Niko Zankl speaks German and English.

Maximilian Epple is a state-approved biotechnical assistant and studied biology at the University of Regensburg. During his Master’s thesis at the Cell Biology and Plant Biochemistry department he focused on a putative amino acid transporter in the thale cress, Arabidosis thaliana. Maximilian Epple joined Biogents internal R&D department as a research scientist in April 2018. He is responsible for the scientific part of product development such as testing and evaluating novel trapping systems, synthetic lure development and other product innovations. He speaks German and English.

Elena Geiger studied biology at the University of Regensburg and the Julius-Maximilians-University in Würzburg. She wrote her master’s thesis on «A behavioral analysis of the Bombus terrestris queen sex pheromone». Since fall 2022, Ms. Geiger has been supporting our internal research and development department and is responsible for planning, conducting and analyzing behavioral experiments with mosquitoes in both, the laboratory and field. Ms. Geiger speaks German and English.

Cedric Rajes studied Biochemistry at the Universities of Ulm and Regensburg. He completed his Master’s thesis on the development of a cell-based assay for virus-free SARS-CoV-2 detection. During his studies, Mr. Rajes already supported our team with field experiments. Since April 2024, he has been working as a research associate in our internal research and development department. He is responsible for the product development and formulation of spatial repellents. Mr. Rajes is fluent in both German and English.

Romy Freund studied chemistry at the University of Regensburg. She wrote her master’s thesis on fluorescence-based cell analysis using optically transparent electrodes at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry, Chemo- and Biosensorics at the University of Regensburg in cooperation with Fraunhofer EMFT.
Since October 2024, Ms. Freund has been supporting our team in our internal research and development work. Ms. Freund speaks German and English.

After completing her training as a dressmaker specializing in women’s fashion, Shani Ehrl gained extensive experience in various areas of the service industry. Since December 2024, she has been supporting Biogents AG as a laboratory assistant. Previously, she worked on a freelance basis in the development and production of traps and nets. Mrs. Ehrl speaks German and English.

Armin Kordus estudió Ingeniería de Procesos en la Universidad de Ratisbona. Es responsable del diseño y de la ingeniería en el desarrollo de las trampas para mosquitos Biogents, de su garantía de calidad y documentación técnica. El Sr. Kordus habla alemán, inglés, francés y turco.

Andreas Lugauer completed his master’s degree in electromobility and energy networks at the Ostbayrische Technische Hochschule Regensburg and most recently worked as an electrical engineer in hardware development at Vitesco Technologies. Mr Lugauer has been supporting our product development team since February 2022, primarily in the development of electronic hardware and software and the evaluation & optimization of electronic products and prototypes. Mr. Lugauer speaks German and English.

Michael estudió Física en el TU Clausthal-Zellerfeld y la Universidad de Bremen, y realizó tesis en el área de la Espectrometría de Masas. Después de completar su licenciatura, se trasladó a Silicon Valley donde trabajó por más de 25 años desarrollando instrumentos para la industria científica y de semiconductores. Al trabajar en un proyecto apoyado por la Fundación Bill y Melinda Gates obtuvo 15 patentes. Este trabajo despertó su curiosidad de trabajar con la tecnología de combatir los mosquitos. Michael se incorporó a nuestro equipo a principios del 2016 y es responsable del desarrollo de sensores ópticos, hardware y software para la detección y clasificación de mosquitos en relación con el proyecto REMOSIS patrocinado por la UE.

Sergej Sperling studied biology at the University of Regensburg. In his master’s thesis, Sergej investigated a novel separation method for extracts in chemical ecology. Sergej joined Biogents in 2014 as part of the EU funded MCD (mosquito contamination device) project and was involved with the development, implementation and evaluation of new anopheline control techniques under semi-field and field conditions in Tanzania. After the completion of the project, Sergej moved to Biogents´Contract Research & Development department in 2017 and took over the role of Director in 2019. He is responsible for lab- and field investigations on the effectiveness of anti-mosquito products and is the point of contact for general questions on efficacy testing of biocidal products, especially PT 18 (Insecticides) and PT 19 (repellents). Sergej speaks English, German and Russian.

Shuang Li studied Biology at the University of Regensburg. In her master´s thesis at the Biochemistry department, Shuang characterized processome submodules of the baker´s yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. She joined our team in 2020 and is responsible for our mosquito breedings. Shuang speaks Mandarin, German and English.

Margit Lindner ha estado a cargo de la cría de mosquitos en Biogents desde el inicio. Es psicóloga de profesión. No podemos decir si esa es la razón por la que tiene tan buena relación con los mosquitos – en todo caso, siempre podemos contar con la Sra. Lindner proporcionarnos en cualquier momento suficientes mosquitas hembras activas y hambrientas para nuestros experimentos. La Sra. Lindner habla alemán e inglés.

Ingeborg Schleip estudió Biología en la Universidad de Ratisbona. Después de completar su tesis en biología del desarrollo en mutantes neurodegenerativas de Drosophila, estudió las N- y O- glicosilaciones en el Golgi de la levadura con el Grupo de Fisiología Vegetal. Después de recibir formación como editora digital, cambió su enfoque y siguió un nuevo camino como diseñadora multimedia, profesora de Biología y Química, y luego como gerente de márketing en una empresa de biotecnología. Desde Abril de 2013, ha trabajado para Biogents en márketing y en el programa de monitoreo de campo. La Srta. Schleip habla alemán e inglés.

Christian Müller is a trained photographer and digital publisher. After having worked for 10 years as designer in Digital Works and authoring for CD-Rom, Blu-Ray and DVD, he changed into movie-marketing. In July 2017 he joined our marketing-Team and supports us here in the areas of web, social media, video production and the creation of illustrations, picture- and printmaterial.

Jennifer Hermann joined our Marketing team in September 2020. After completing an apprenticeship in business administration and sales, she worked at Deutsche Telekom before she started to study in Regensburg. Initially, she wanted to become a teacher in German and English for secondary school but switched back to business administration after a few semesters. She studied Business Economics at the OTH Regensburg and mainly focused on marketing, Employer Branding and business consulting. During her studies, she worked in marketing & PR for a tech start up and gained some knowledge in social media management, among other things. She is still passionate about tutoring, proofreading and consulting and works as a freelancer on the side. Mrs. Hermann speaks German, English and a little bit of Spanish and French.

Christina Ostermeier completed her training as a media designer in digital and print and then worked for several years in graphic design with a focus on print media. She gained extensive experience in the design and implementation of a wide range of print products.

Ms. Ostermeier has been part of our marketing team since June 2024 and provides support in the design and implementation of print and online materials in particular.

Chakib joined Biogents in April 2025 as a Social Media Strategist, after relocating from Paris to Regensburg, Germany. He holds a Master’s degree in Digital Marketing and Communication and has gained valuable experience working in both small businesses and large organizations.

With a strategic and hands-on approach, Chakib works to strengthen the brand’s visibility and engagement across digital platforms. At Biogents, he focuses on building brand awareness among end users, supporting business development in France, and contributing to the company’s growth in new international markets.

He speaks fluent French, English, Arabic, and Portuguese, enabling him to work comfortably in multicultural environments and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Scott Gordon received his PhD from Colorado State University. He has over 40 years of experience in public health entomology, and is Board Certified in Medical and Veterinary Entomology. He previously worked for the Ohio Department of Health Vector-borne Disease Unit and served as a medical entomologist in the US Army Medical Service Corps. He has conducted research on a wide range of topics in vector biology and authored or co-authored 35 publications. Dr. Gordon is a member of the Entomological Society of America, the American Mosquito Control Association, the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene,  Society of Vector Ecology and the European Mosquito Control Association.

Until 2022, Dr. Gordon held multiple key roles at Biogents USA, including President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Currently, he assists our new President in driving business growth. Additionally, Dr. Gordon is an integral part of our Scientific Advisory Board, overseeing field research studies with Biogents products and facilitating connections with mosquito control agencies, public health organizations, university researchers, and the US Military.

Polly was our very first office dog in 2014 and she paved the way for all future office dogs. Polly was special — as all dogs are — and we will always remember her.

A long office day can only be survived in yoga position.

Olli is living proof that our mosquito traps and pets are compatible.

Ursula joined Biogents in 2025 as a vital member of the «Security» team. While she has no formal qualifications in surveillance, cybersecurity, or guarding anything at all, she excels at ensuring team morale remains high through strategic cuddles and tail-wagging interventions. She is fluent in German, English, and Catalan (especially when treats are involved).
